UPGRADE of the Vienna S-Bahn

For more than 60 years, the so-called "S-Bahn Vienna core line" between Vienna Meidling and Vienna Floridsdorf has been an important local transport route through Vienna for locals as well as commuters. It forms the backbone of public rail transport beyond the city limits.
 
In order to ensure that local and regional public transport between Vienna and Lower Austria remains punctual and reliable in the long term, the "S-Bahn Vienna Upgrade" programme was launched to make the lines and their facilities fit for the future by the end of 2027.

In addition to the modernisation and digitalisation of the Vienna core line, many improvements are also being implemented along the north-western line, the northern line and the southern line in order to bring more commuters quickly and comfortably to the federal capital.
